Abstract: Fiber cohesion has long been discussed and analyzed as an important factor in the manufacture of staple yarns. Many researchers have attempted to characterize the cohesive properties of fibers, in order to predict or control their performance in the yarn manufacturing process. However, previous study methods for fibers in bale form have been either lacking in usable information or excessively time consuming. The Spinlab Rotorring, with modifications by ITT Denkendorf, is capable of making cohesion measurements on unprocessed fibers.
